Obama More Unpopular Than Bush?

Contrary to what the MainStream Media and their Conventional "Wisdom" would have you believe, President Barack H. Obama is actually more unpopular than President George W. Bush. Don't believe me? Check the facts. In September 2009, Obama's eighth month in office, his approval rating was 49% (source). In contrast, during Bush's eighth month in office, he enjoyed an approval rating of 90% (source) - nearly 50 percentage points higher than Obama. The lesson here? Don't believe everything you read. The numbers don't lie.

Working class American

Obama is the worst thing to happen to this country since Carter. Despite the few Obama underlings that come onto Newsvine and run down anyone who dislikes him, I'm thankful that America is waking up. I have no doubt Americans will overwhelmingly, if not gladly, hand Obama, Pelosi, Reid and several other democracy and freedom haters their walking papers in 2010 and 2012.

lol 8 years a presidency made for George W. Bush. 8 months does NOT a presidency make for Barack. And by the way, conservative Bruce Bartlett who worked under President Reagan and Bush senior had this to say in his article, "The Gop's Misplaced Rage":

"I think conservative anger is misplaced. To a large extent, Obama is only cleaning up messes created by Bush."

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-08-12/the-gops-misplaced-rage/full/

The economy is showing signs of recovery, and health care legislation will soon be passed. Things are looking pretty damn bleak for Republicans, I'm afraid :)

The author also talks about values. Here. Here's an article for everyone to read:

"Graphic: Red States Have The Highest Divorce Rates, Teen Birth Rates, and Porn Subscription Rates"

Mike... I don't think things are looking bleak for repubs. I think things are looking bleak for Americans.

Newsvine and MSNBC are obviously pro Obama. You can tell by their unfair column moderation.

Hence, the picture of Obama's popularity is inaccurate on Newsvine.

Just because a polls suggest that people LIKE Obama, as a person, does not mean that they will vote for him again.

Prior to the economic crash in September during the election campaign, McCain was 14 points ahead of Obama.

IMO, Obama won the election, only because people were confused and decided to vote for change.

Now many people who voted for Obama regret it. I consistently hear people lament that Obama is "not the man I voted for".

Obama will not be re-elected, I guarantee that.

The louder the Obama supporters scream, too, the more it seems to turn off former Obama supporters.

So scream long an loud all you lefties, It will only help the Republican or some other candidate.......but it no longer works to help Obama.

The Obama administration's latest nail in their own coffin is their vote against posting the full health care bill online 72 hours prior to any vote.

What happened to Obama's promise of transparency?

I guess it was just another LIE.

I think you should wait until end of term to decide this. It's still a little early. Also, GW had a 90% rating because the country united after 9/11. Perhaps if Obama's administration neglects a memo such as "Al Qaeda wants to fly planes into building" then he will get a really high rating too. Of course, my last sentence is a little over the top but it fits the mood of this "article". I honestly can't tell if you are serious or sarcastic...

Also, the world economy was plunging well before Obama came into office and this is the worst economy a president has had to face in awhile. Of course he's going to have a lower rating. I personally oppose many of his policies and I'm not making an excuse but it seems fair to notice the difference in circumstances both Presidents faced and will face in their first year in office.

Your second source comes from an article titled "President Bush has set a record he'd presumably prefer to avoid: the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll." The rating you ask? 28%

Your right Flubbercat, "the numbers don't lie". But it's fun to try and manipulate them to your own advantage. If Obama's rating hits below 28% by the end of his term then this type of article would make a lot more sense.

Your first source also shows that GW lowest approval at any time was 25% whereas BO's lowest is 50%.

Yeah, Bush was riding high on the aftermath of 9/11. The fact that this article omits that shows something. What it is yet, I'm unsure. At that point in time he could do no wrong. That's pretty much why he went unopposed to anything for so long. People were honest to goodness putting their job before the country, so they were voting to save their ass instead of voting their conscience. Thomas Ricks' book Fiasco had an admittance from one of them. The person in question later said it was his worst vote.

Is this person serious? I mean for real serious?
There's no way this can be serious, seriously.

We're going to pick one stat and compare to-date? Okay, here's one:

Number of terrorist attacks that killed over 3000 people by this point in Bush's presidency: 1
Number of terrorist attacks that killed over 3000 people by this point in Obama's presidency: 0

I guess Obama is 100% better than Bush.
